DETROIT WOMEN'S TRAVEL ORGANIZATION, founded in 1980 is a group of professional women who are actively employed in the sale and promotion of travel. DWTO members are from a wide cross section of organizations involved in the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.

The organization's primary objectives are to:
- Exchange ideas on travel promotion, sales and marketing concepts.
- Use education programs/speakers for the further development of travel knowledge.
- Establish personal lines of communication through friendships, support and goodwill.
- Create a forum for the exchange of ideas and opportunities to link with other travel organizations such as ASTA to strengthen the position of the travel industry in the eyes of the public.
- Offer monthly general dinner meeting where members can network and participate in professional as well as personal development seminars.
- Publish our members business name, phone number and web address on our website www.dwto.org.
- Provide the access to the Members Only section of our website dwto.org to keep all members informed of club activities and related travel issues.

When are the meetings?
Regular dinner meetings are generally held the first Wednesday of the month, September through June. The locations are published on our website. Members receive a postcard invitation and an email. On occasion, meetings may be held on a different day to accommodate a special event or holiday.
